And then, when I changed the short mileage 180/60R/16 radial rear tire that came on my Indian, replacing it with a 180/65B/16 bias tire,I dam near tripled the rear tire mileage on that machine,[not to mention, the bias tire cost less money] yet the machine still handled just as good as it did with the radial and I've never looked back!! So I am a happy camper.

So put that in your pipe and smoke it "LEE"!!! lol lol Dave!!!

Just out of curiosity, how much did the rear tires set you back and how many miles were you getting per change?
Also, what's the rear on the Indian worth and how many miles are you getting from that?

If I remember correctly,I was buying em on line from "Tires Unlimited" for around 150-160 bucks each,[radials] but since then,I'm sure they've gone waaaaaaay up!! [Thank you Mr. Biden.] Then I started buying em from Amazon,a little cheaper and I usually got em the next day.The mileage was piss pot poor,5-6000 miles and they were done. And I did NOT obuse that machine in any way, shape,or form.

The original tires on my Indian [which I believe are alittle bigger then what came on the Tbird] are now both bias and are averaging any wheres from 18-25,000 miles,a huge improvement over the radial tires used on the Tbird, not to mention, the Injun is a lot heavier machine.

Hope I answered your question??? Dave!!!

Well Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo stranger!! How have ya been Rich?? I haven't noticed any of your posts lately. So how's everything going sir???How many miles do ya have on your scooter now???I'm alittle over the 70,000 mile mark on my new scooter. But ,I live here in New England, and we've had some pretty snowy winters with sub zero temps around here over the last few years, and then,to add more insult to injury,we've also had some pretty hot summers with temps hitting and exceeding the 100* mark which is kind of unusual for this area.Anyways,it's good to see you're still around. Take care my friend!! Dave!!!

Hey Dave...I'm good, thnx for asking! The Tbird has less than 30K miles. You see, that's the secret to extended tire life

And the bike is in storage at the moment while I tour beautiful northern Arizona in an RV.

Ride safe Bro!

Evening gang: Just thought I'd drop in ,say hello, and wish everyone here a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.I hope everything is going well for everyone on here ,and their bikes running like champs.
Regarding my new scooter,I now have over 73,000 trouble free miles on her and she's running well with with zero problems. The biggest improvement is,instead of getting 5-6000 miles out of the tires,I'm now getting 15-20,000 miles out of both tires cause they're NOT radials. The rear tire was and didn't get good mileage either until I switched it over to a bias tire,so now both front and rear tires are Bias and both giving excellent mileage.Anyways,I hope things are going well for everyone on here.

So ,as long as I'm still welcome here, I'll drop in from time to time to say hello!!

So again: I wanna wish everyone on here A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!! Take care gang!!
Dave!!!

You don't say! And Merry Christmas and New Year to you! The best present you can receive is syn oil to extend those trouble free miles.

How much synthetic oil do you put in each tyre?

Well....it's like the forks, you have to leave a little air gap and the weight of the oil determines the ride ( I hope no one believes this )

Who does this sound like? Sound familiar?

I just listened to the audio on your post and your motor sounds pretty quiet to me.So what I'm saying is: I wouldn't worry too much about it.As long as you're not hearing any sharp rapping, metallic, or knocking noises, you should be good to go.Myself,I'm running 20W50 weight Dino oil in mine and have been since my first oil change at the 2000 mile mark. Why?? Because my motor was [past tense] also making more noise then it should have been making using that synthetic shit, and the 20/50 dino oil quieted it right down.[My last bike did the same thing until I dumped that synthetic shit ,and it was still running nice and quiet at the 125,000 mile mark when I traded it towards my SDH..

Anyways, I'm not hearing anymore excessive engine noise like I was hearing when I first bought this machine. I've now traveled over 73,000 miles and she runs nice and quiet. But, I also allow the motor warm up 8 or 10 minutes before riding off,[ alittle longer over the cold weather months] and then go easy with it until she's fully warmed up so the oil ,again, can get to where it's needs to get to.And then, I do not ride it hard at all like I see so many other guys do.

But the point I'm trying to make to you is,"ALWAYS" allow your motor to run for atleast five or six minutes "BEFORE" riding off [no matter what your riding, driving,or using for a piece of equipment ] so the oil can warm up and get to where it needs to get to!! Capishe??? As it does make a difference!!
